Setup Guide

A short guide to getting started with your own keys.

1. What you need

BlackUI: BYOK Lite has no accounts and no free built-in AI. To chat you need your own Google Gemini API key. The optional Advance Features add Anthropic Claude (needs your own Claude API key) and the APK/AAB builder (needs your own GitHub token).

2. Add your Gemini API key

  1. Open Google AI Studio at aistudio.google.com/app/apikey and create an API key.
  2. In the app, open Settings and paste it into Gemini API Key, then tap Save Settings.
  3. Start chatting. Tap the speaker button on any reply to hear it read aloud, and use the microphone button for voice input.

Free-tier keys have usage limits, and Google may use content sent through an unpaid key to improve its products. A paid key is handled differently; see the Privacy Policy.

3. Claude and auto-switching (Advance Features)

After the one-time Advance Features purchase, open Settings → More Settings and add your Claude API key from console.anthropic.com. With auto-switch on, real coding and debugging requests go to Claude and everything else stays with Gemini. Turn auto-switch off to pin one provider.

4. APK/AAB builder (Advance Features)

Create a fine-grained GitHub personal access token limited to the repositories you will use, add it in Settings, then ask the app to build your app. The app creates a private repository in your account from the open template, uploads your app, and starts a build on your own GitHub Actions minutes. Never give the token Administration or delete permissions.

The app asks you for an icon and a signing password. It generates a keystore on your device and saves the file once. Keep that file and password safe: you need the same pair for every future update.

5. Keeping your keys safe

  • Keys are stored on your device only; use a screen lock.
  • Use keys with spending limits where the provider allows it.
  • If you lose your device, revoke the keys in each provider’s console.
  • Back up anything important — we cannot recover chats or keystores.
